According to a statement released through her Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Bola Awofisayo, she emphasized that the proposed legislation reflects genuine leadership and a commitment to equity. Edu-Falade urged political leaders, civil society organisations, and citizens across the country to rally behind the bill until it is passed into law.

House of Representatives aspirant for Akure North and South Federal Constituency, Tomisin Edu Falade, has applauded the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, for their firm commitment to improving women’s representation in Nigeria’s political and decision-making processes. She described the introduction of a bill to reserve seats for women in both elective and appointive positions as “a bold and progressive step that will shape the future of Nigerian politics.”
Speaking with her media team on Monday, Tomisin Edu Falade emphasized that the marginalization of women in governance has been a long-standing concern. According to her, despite the enormous contributions of women to national development, their presence in leadership remains limited. “What the Speaker and Deputy Speaker have done is historic it sends a strong signal that women matter, their voices matter, and the time for real inclusion is now,” she said.
Falade extended her sincere appreciation to the sponsors and co-sponsors of the bill in the House of Representatives. She noted that their courage to champion this cause reflects true leadership and commitment to equity. “These lawmakers are setting a new tone one that recognises talent and leadership, not based on gender, but on capability and inclusion,” she added.
