The statement reads:
OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE PROGRESSIVES NETWORK FOR TINUBU (PNT)
The Progressives Network for Tinubu (PNT) commends President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the nomination of General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, as Minister of Defence. This nomination comes at a defining moment for the country and follows the President’s recent declaration of a national emergency in the defence and security sector. It reflects a leadership that is fully committed to restoring peace, stability and confidence across Nigeria.
General Musa has served the nation with honour and distinction throughout his military career. As Chief of Defence Staff, he demonstrated strong command capability, deep operational intelligence and an unwavering commitment to improving coordination among the armed forces. His experience in counter-terrorism, intelligence-driven security operations and joint service collaboration places him among the most qualified individuals to lead the defence ministry at this critical time.
President Tinubu’s declaration of a security emergency clearly showed the seriousness with which his administration is addressing the country’s security challenges. The emergency framework includes the recruitment of additional personnel into the military and police, the strengthening of intelligence mechanisms, the deployment of specialized units to high-risk areas and the prioritization of community-focused security strategies. The nomination of General Musa aligns with these reforms and provides the ministry with a leader capable of driving both operational effectiveness and institutional renewal.
The PNT believes that this nomination offers renewed hope to Nigerians who have endured the impact of insecurity. With strong political will from the Presidency and experienced leadership at the helm of the Ministry of Defence, Nigeria is positioned to record meaningful progress in protecting its citizens and strengthening national security structures.
We call on Nigerians to remain united and supportive of the government’s ongoing efforts to secure the nation. The challenges facing Nigeria are significant, but they can be overcome through cooperation, professionalism and sustained commitment to peace.
Those who thrive on instability will not succeed. Under the focused and determined leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria is moving toward a safer, stronger and more resilient future.
Signed:
Pastor Olumide Obadele
