Bunmi Tunji-Ojo: Bearing The Cross Of Serving a People

The National Coordinator of the Progressives Network for Tinubu (PNT), Pastor Olumide Obadele, has hit back at orchestrated, politically motivated attacks on the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo. He said the criticisms, especially on social media, are fueled by envy and fear of the Minister’s growing influence and his role in mobilizing support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election.

In a statement he personally signed, Pastor Olumide affirmed that Tunji Ojo’s record is impeccable and fully verified. He said the attacks expose only the weakness and opportunism of critics, and are destined to fail against a man whose achievements and transformative impact in Ondo State and across Nigeria are already firmly established.

The statement reads:

I have keenly observed of recent, the hordes of attacks, especially on the social media space against the person of the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo. The glaringly sponsored attacks ladened with the undertone of vendetta by some political miscreants who for few thousands of Naira decided to sell their conscience to the devil, bothered of the authenticity of the credentials of the Honourable Minister. This is a matter long laid to rest by appropriate and constituted authorities, the resurrection of which is needless and diversionary
.
From my observation, the prime actor in the whole drama looks like a hired puppet, his stuttered speeches incoherent and his blurred intellect influenced by the type of 'ogogoro' -local alcohol found in his riverine area. His co-conspirators are not in any way better - bereft of ideas.

Without any iota of doubt, this new move was politically motivated by those who hate the strides of Bunmi Tunji Ojo in the political space of Ondo State and his rising profile as the brand ambassador of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR. One thing that gladdens my heart is that the people of Ondo State know where this is coming from and who the sponsors are. The venom and energy with which they mudsling reveals that the attempts are aimed at bringing Bunmi Tunji Ojo down. But I have bad news for them, no man can bring down a man lifted by God. They shall be victims of their own evil crafts. The 'chis' of the widows, orphans and needy who look up to Bunmi Tunji Ojo will fight them. Read my lips and take it to the bank, just like in the past, this too shall fail.

To them, Bunmi Tunji Ojo's only offence is the massive galvanization of support for his Principal's re-election in 2027 through the various Pro- Tinubu support groups he promotes in Ondo State. This effort which served as a wake up call to the already sleeping and slipping All Progressives Congress in Ondo State did not go down well with some party folks who now ask for his head for doing what is good. Funny enough, they have unwittingly shifted attention from the re-election of Tinubu in 2027 to the Governorship ambition of Bunmi Tunji Ojo in 2028.

To me this persecution is one cross Bunmi Tunji Ojo is carrying at the moment and that painfully so. But I am persuaded that his cup of trials shall turn to a trophy of triumph. At the end, he will win with the people of Ondo State.

As the clock ticks and draws us closer to certain dates and events, the enlightened people of Ondo State are watching and stocking their archives with the roles played by the actors and gladiators in this game. When the history books are written, they will be kind to some and cruel to others.

As for Bunmi Tunji Ojo, the future awaits a man of destiny.
