Otunba Femi Balogun Resigns as Political Aide to Sen. Ipinsagba, Citing Constituents’ Concerns Over Senator's Performance

In what he described as a reflection of conviction, principle, and deep respect for the voice of the people, Otunba Femi Balogun, Director of Media Spotlight, has formally resigned as Ward Liaison Officer of Isowopo 1 in Akoko North East Local Government under the distinguished office of Senator Olajide Ipinsagba, representing Ondo North Senatorial District, effective 8th November 2025.

Otunba Femi’s appointment, formally communicated via an appointment letter dated 1st December 2023, marked his inclusion among aides entrusted with supporting the Senator’s grassroots structure.

A media consultant and data analyst, Otunba Femi Balogun explained that his resignation stemmed from moral reflection and the collective sentiment of his constituents in Isowopo 1. He cited persistent complaints and growing dissatisfaction regarding the lack of visible impact of the structure he represents, which were issues he could no longer justify or defend.

Balogun emphasized that he could not, in good conscience, remain in a position where his voice no longer aligned with his constituents’ expectations. He described stepping aside as both morally and politically necessary, due to his commitment to integrity and responsible leadership.

In his resignation letter, he acknowledged the privilege of service and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute within the Senator’s structure. He, however, reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and restated his commitment to the party’s progressive ideals and the advancement of the people of Ondo North and beyond.

It would be recalled that the Liaison Officer for Isowopo 2, from the same axis, Mr. Olatunbodun Awe, had earlier resigned on 1st July 2025, thereby raising concerns over the Senator’s acceptability in the area ahead of the 2027 poll.

RESIGNATION AS WARD LIAISON OFFICER, ISOWOPO 1

Dear Distinguished Senator,

After a period of deep reflection and extensive consultation with the people of Isowopo 1, I have reached the firm decision to tender my resignation as Ward Liaison Officer under your distinguished office, with immediate effect.

This decision arises from the persistent concerns and complaints of my constituents who, over time, have expressed deep disappointment over the visible lack of performance and the absence of meaningful impact in our ward. Despite our collective hopes and expectations, the people of Isowopo 1 have not felt the desired benefits of your representation, and this reality has made it increasingly difficult for me to continue defending or justifying the situation before them.

As a grassroots representative whose legitimacy derives from the people, I cannot in good conscience remain in a position where my voice no longer aligns with their yearnings. Their growing frustration and the clear disconnect between leadership and the governed have eroded my confidence to continue in this role. I therefore find it both morally and politically necessary to step aside.

I, however, appreciate the opportunity you accorded me to serve within your structure and the experience gained in the process. Leadership, to me, remains about accountability, and it is in that spirit that I have chosen this path.

As I take this decision, I reaffirm my loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and to the ideals of progressive governance. My belief in the vision of our great party remains unshaken, and I will continue to identify with its principles and contribute to the advancement of our people.

I sincerely wish you success in your future endeavours and pray that your tenure finds renewed direction and purpose in the service of Ondo North Senatorial District.
