Following the recent ruling of the Election Petition Tribunal, which affirmed the electoral victory of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, Hon. Ayodeji Obayan has extended his warmest congratulations to the Ondo State Governor, describing the outcome as a triumph for democracy, justice, and the collective will of the people.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, who was declared the winner of the November 16, 2024 governorship election, secured a sweeping victory across all 18 local government areas of the state. His win was subsequently challenged at the tribunal by oppositions. However, in its final judgment, the tribunal dismissed the petitions for lack of merit, affirming that the election was conducted in compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act and that the outcome genuinely reflected the will of the electorate.
In his official statement, Hon. Obayan, a former Vice Chairman of Akoko North East Local Government, a respected leader of the V8 Network, and a grassroot mobilizer commended both the judiciary and the people of Ondo State, noting that the judgment further strengthens the democratic foundations of the state and reinforces public confidence in the electoral and judicial processes.
“This tribunal verdict is not only a legal endorsement of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s mandate but also a reflection of the overwhelming support he enjoys across the state,” Hon. Obayan stated. “The people spoke loudly and clearly at the polls, and the court has now reaffirmed their voice. This is indeed a victory for democracy and for the future of Ondo State.”
He went on to applaud Governor Aiyedatiwa for his calm, focused, and statesmanlike disposition throughout the legal process, urging him to remain steadfast in delivering purposeful and people-centered governance.
“As Your Excellency continues to champion inclusive development, I join countless well-wishers in praying for wisdom, strength, and divine guidance as you lead our dear state into greater heights of progress and prosperity,” he added.
Hon. Obayan also called on all political stakeholders, regardless of affiliation, to put differences aside and support the Governor’s vision for a more united and progressive Ondo State.
