Press Statement by Mr. Adesola Olusade, Former Permanent Secretary FCT
Date: August 1, 2024
Dear Nigerians,
I address you today as we witness the commencement of a significant protest, reflecting the deep-seated concerns and frustrations many of you hold. The economic difficulties we face, marked by rising inflation, have undeniably impacted numerous lives, especially our resilient youth. Your voices are loud and clear, and your demands for change are understood.
However, I urge you all to continue to embrace peace and constructive dialogue as you express your grievances. History has shown us that while protests can amplify our voices, it is through peaceful and cooperative efforts that we achieve meaningful and lasting change.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) and his administration are acutely aware of the hardships we endure and are actively working to address these challenges. Steps are being taken to curb inflation, support small businesses, and create job opportunities. These measures require time to take effect and show results.
To the youth of our nation, I recognize your impatience and desire for immediate action, but I appeal to you to grant President Tinubu more time to implement the necessary reforms. Constructive engagement, patience, and peaceful protests will yield better results than unrest and violence.
Our nation’s strength lies in our unity and our collective commitment to progress. I call on community leaders, influencers, and all citizens to promote dialogue and understanding. Let us work together to propose practical solutions and hold our leaders accountable in a manner that upholds peace and stability. Violence and disorder will only hinder our progress and deepen our divisions.
In these trying times, let us remain steadfast in our dedication to peace, justice, and the common good. Your voices are important, and they are being heard. Let us seize this moment to create positive change through peaceful means.
Thank you.
God bless Ondo State.
God bless Nigeria.
Sincerely,
Mr. Adesola Olusade
