In a statement to commemorate the anniversary, Aregbesola noted that the milestone provides an opportunity to reflect on Ondo State’s journey since its creation in 1976, highlighting its steady progress, rich cultural heritage, and meaningful contributions to national development in the areas of education, governance, agriculture, and enterprise.
He commended the resilience, unity, and industry of the people of Ondo State, describing them as the driving force behind the state’s stability and growth, while also acknowledging the efforts of successive administrations in building a state founded on peace and progress.
The APC chieftain further recognised the present administration under the leadership of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for sustaining continuity in governance, promoting inclusive development, and advancing infrastructural and institutional growth across the state.
Aregbesola expressed optimism about the future of Ondo State, noting that with sustained unity, visionary leadership, and active citizen participation, the state is well-positioned to attain greater heights in development and prosperity.

ONDO STATE AT 50: HON. FESTUS AREGBESOLA FELICITATES GOVERNMENT AND PEOPLE OF THE STATE
I, Hon. Festus Aregbesola, extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Government and the people of Ondo State as the state commemorates its 50th Anniversary on 3rd February, 2026, marking a significant milestone in its history and development.
This Golden Jubilee provides an opportunity to reflect on five decades of purposeful existence, collective sacrifice, and steady progress since the creation of Ondo State in 1976. Over the years, the Sunshine State has distinguished itself through intellectual excellence, rich cultural heritage, and meaningful contributions to national development across education, public service, entrepreneurship, agriculture, and governance.
I commend the resilience, industry, and unity of the people of Ondo State, whose commitment to peace, hard work, and communal values has remained the bedrock of the state’s growth and stability. From the coastal communities to the agrarian heartlands and urban centres, Ondo State continues to thrive on the strength and character of its people.
I also congratulate the present administration under the leadership of His Excellency, Hon. Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for sustaining stability, continuity, and inclusive governance, while advancing infrastructural and institutional development across the state. The administration’s focus on development, peace, and economic growth reflects a deep understanding of the aspirations of Ondo people.
