The incident that reportedly occurred in the early hours of today, where the Party Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Akoko North West Local Government was allegedly assaulted, raises significant concerns for Party leaders and stakeholders. There is an urgent need to call Mr. Gani Muhammad to order to prevent escalating tensions within the Party and the community.
On December 1st, 2024, Mr. Ajiboye Olutoye and Ojo Abimbola, close allies of Mr. Gani Muhammad, organized a ward meeting at his instruction without informing either the ward or Local Government Chairman, Hon. Kehinde Obanla, who is from Ajowa Ward 5.
Hon. Kehinde Obanla, the Local Government Party Chairman, was informed about the meeting by ward executives, who expressed concerns over the lack of consultation. He went to inquire why the meeting was convened without involving the ward Chairman or executives, particularly when there was no known division within the Party.
Upon Hon. Obanla's arrival in Ajowa Township, it was reported that Mr. Ajiboye Olutoye and his associates assaulted him without provocation. Witnesses allege that this action was carried out at the directive of Mr. Gani Muhammad, who reportedly instructed his allies to disrupt any involvement by Party executives.
Concerns have been raised about Mr. Gani Muhammad’s recent actions within the Party. On November 27th, 2024, he allegedly received defectors from the People's Democratic Party into the All Progressives Congress without informing either the ward or Local Government Chairman, despite all three individuals being from the same Ajowa Ward 5. Questions remain about his intentions and his perceived operation of a parallel Party structure.
We call on His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, the State Party Chairman, and other Party leaders from Akoko North West to intervene promptly. This situation, if left unchecked, could lead to significant disruptions within the Party and the community.
Efforts must be made to maintain peace and resolve conflicts through dialogue. Preventing further breaches of peace is essential for the unity and stability of the Party.
God bless the APC in Ondo State.
God bless Akoko North West Local Government.
God bless Ward 5.
