Ondo 2024: Hon. Mohammed Mutiu Olawale "Baba Nel" Secures Massive Victory in Polling Unit, Preaches Peaceful Electoral Process

Hon. Mohammed Mutiu Olawale "Baba Nel", Chairman of the Transition Committee for Akoko North East Local Government, has reaffirmed his political influence by delivering a resounding victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, in his polling unit.

At his Polling Unit: 009, Ode Aiyin, Ilepa Ward I, Ikare Akoko, the APC secured an overwhelming 266 votes, leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) far behind with only 19 votes. This decisive result showcase both the strength of the APC in the region and Hon. Olawale’s robust connection with grassroots supporters.

Speaking to journalists after casting his ballot, Hon. Olawale underscored the importance of active voter participation in sustaining democracy. He encouraged eligible voters to exercise their rights, highlighting that collective action remains the foundation of a prosperous state.

“I strongly encourage everyone to come out and cast their votes,” he said. “Every single vote matters, and together, we can create a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come.”

The gubernatorial election is a high-stakes contest between the incumbent Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of the APC and his primary challenger, Hon. Alfred Agboola Ajayi of the PDP. Both candidates have presented competing visions for the future of Ondo State, focusing heavily on development and progress.

Hon. Olawale also appealed for peace and decorum throughout the electoral process, emphasizing the need for unity and restraint. “It is imperative that we maintain peace and unity during this period,” he stated. “Let us demonstrate maturity and respect for the rule of law as we exercise our democratic rights.”

With vote collation ongoing across the state, all eyes remain on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the official announcement of results. The outcome of this election will not only determine the next governor of Ondo State but also influence the region’s political and economic direction for years to come.
