The popular crossdresser was, on Friday, April 12, 2024, sentenced to six months' imprisonment by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos, after pleading guilty to an alleged abuse of the Naira, in violation of Section 21 of the Central Bank Act 2007.
In an audio allegedly leaked by popular Nigerian activist, critic and social media influencer, Martins Vincent Otse (popularly known as VeryDarkMan), which Bobrisky later disclaimed as fake, Bobrisky stated that he paid N15 million to officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to drop charges against him. He further claimed to have bribed correctional officers for preferential treatment, outside the Service's facilities, during his imprisonment. Additionally, he alleged that Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, and his son, Folarin Falana (Falz), had agreed to facilitate a state pardon for a fee of N10 million.
In response to these allegations, the Minister of Interior, Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo ordered a comprehensive investigation, resulting in the suspension of the implicated officers.
The suspended officers include Michael Anugwa and Sikiru Adekunle, both Deputy Controllers of Corrections at the Kiri-kiri Custodial Centre in Lagos, as well as ASC II Ogbule Samuel Obinna, who was suspended for escorting a convicted inmate outside the facility.
A circular signed by Ja'afaru Ahmed, Director/Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Board, confirmed that the suspensions are to facilitate further investigations into the matter.

Bobrisky: FG Suspends Senior Officers of Nigerian Correctional Service
Following the viral video trending on social media on alleged infractions by Officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service relating to Mr. Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has suspended forthwith the following Senior Officers of the Service:
i. Michael Anugwa, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), In-Charge of Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kiri-kiri, Lagos State; and
ii. Sikiru Adekunle, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), In-Charge of Maximum-Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kiri-kiri, Lagos State;
Also, the Board has suspended ASC II Ogbule Samuel Obinna, serving at the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Afikpo, Ebonyi State, for allegedly accompanying a convicted inmate out of the Custodial Centre to a location outside the facility.
In another related development, the Board has equally suspended another Senior Officer of the Service, Iloafonsi Kevin Ikechukwu, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), In-Charge of Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kuje- Abuja, for allegedly receiving monies on behalf of an inmate.
The suspension of these Officers is to allow for further investigation on the various allegations while assuring that the outcome would be made public when concluded.
